Happy Friday, dearest reader!
So I haven’t really gone into myself or even INFJs that much in the last posts. I needed to lay the ground work before I could do that. So now that we have the basement built, here’s the first floor.
I keep throwing the word INFJ around, but what do those four letters even mean? What are the traits and qualities of the people who identify as an INFJ? It is my hope that this post will begin to answer these questions. Enjoy!
As previously stated, INFJ stands for Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling and Judging. When they come together and work as a unit to create someone’s personality, here’s what you can expect:
1.) We live in a rich inner world, and have vivid imaginations.
2.) We have a very uncanny insight on people and situations. We can get “feelings” or “hunches” about things without explicitly understanding why. We can predict how situations will unfold before they happen, or the underlying reasons behind other people’s actions.
3.) We are very sensitive to other people’s feelings, and as a result, we take great care of those close to us. On the positive side of this trait, we are wonderful friends. On the negative side, we are extremely conflict averse, and can sometimes compromise ourselves to make a group dynamic flow more smoothly.
4.) In our outer world, we like things to be as structured and orderly as possible. At the same time, we are also very spontaneous on the inner world. An INFJ will likely have a pristine schedule for the week to come, but yet have a messy desk at the same time.
5.) We feel like people don’t understand us. This is a HUGE defining quality of an INFJ.
6.) We like symbolism and metaphors, and they are often intertwined in the way we talk as well.
7.) We know when someone is trying to con us. We will like you a lot more if you are genuine, and that can mean admitting that you have flaws.
8.) We are perfectionists. We have a desire to take the ideas we get from Ni and turn them into Se reality.
9.) We are very committed to an idea we support, even at times at the expense of our own health or happiness. We have a tendency to burn out because of this.
10.) We tend to be creative and inspiring, whether through writing or other art forms.
11.) We are very private, and only truly open ourselves up to a select few. This is due to feeling misunderstood and being afraid of getting hurt. At the same time, we still truly want to form connections with people. When we do open up, however, we can be funny, spontaneous and weird.
Those are just a few basic traits of an INFJ. I will talk in more detail about these and many more in the future. As always, please let me know if you have comments, feedback or suggestions. I’d love to hear from you. Talk to you all soon!
Seize the day!
